They call themselves "Maestro", "Mago" or "Profesor".

They possess rare hereditary gifts that allow them to see into the past, present and future of people: all you have to do is call them, or write them a message, they even have Whatsapp.

Their way of spreading their knowledge is through a communication made tangible by small sheets of paper where they usually illustrate their divine abilities.

Coming from families of prophets, mainly African, they exercise their profession with "total seriousness", guaranteeing effective work that can "change the lives" of those who come into contact with them, and pay, of course.

Streets and pavements are the places where they are mostly encountered after being thrown by people who, surely, cannot understand that what they have in their hands would allow them the immediate resolution of all their problems.

For some time I have been wondering about the effectiveness of these super powers and I am fascinated by the multidisciplinarity of these master prophets as well as their communication strategy.

The "Maestros" communicate with anyone who needs help, whatever the problem, regardless of provenance, gender, religion or social class.

Their world is accessible to all who believe in their powers and hereditary gift.

They spread their word by small sheets of paper of various sizes (usually pocket-size) in which they illustrate all that they're able to solve as well as their rank of prophet, their name and their telephone number.

The content of their communication is generally very similar to each other: most of the "Maestros" seem to be specialised in solving love issues but they remain extremely versatile figures capable of adapting to any situation.

What generally changes is the layout, the typography and the possible symbols that make each flyer unique. It is extremely rare to see a photo of the "Maestro" himself, their identity is normally concealed until the meeting with the client.




The content of their flyers is easily grouped into different sections, which are interpreted with different terms even if, in fact, what they communicate is always the same.

Below is a list of the headings under which I have categorised their communication and a list of terminology used to identify themselves:

We can observe how the symbolism used by the "Maestros" can be divided into well-defined categories.

The lines of the drawings used change according to the aesthetic choices of each "Maestro".

These are however elements collected from the Internet, often without regard to the resolution of the image. Following is an archive of the symbologies encountered so far:



The storing of these flyers allows us to observe that, often, the "Maestros" possess more than one identity. We can see, in this specific case, that Maestro Banna is also Mastro Badara and vice versa.

The fact is confirmed not only by the same graphic layout and text but also by the same telephone number.

The multiple identities seem to be a power that unites different Masters; probably a marketing choice to ensure that if negative feedback is given on the work of a "Maestro", there is still the possibility of attracting clients by using another name.





The type of printing can be grouped into two macro-categories:

1. black-on-white printing, generally on 100g paper and no larger than 11x11 cm.

2. coloured print (2 colours max) on rigid cardboard, classic business card size 5.5x9 cm.



**option no.1 is generally preferred to no.2 for price reasons. However, option no. 2 guarantees a longer life even outdoors and the colour increases visibility and originality.

It is interesting to observe how the "Maestros" move within the urban space and how they are used to spread and advertise their talents.

Generally, the "Maestros" are used to place their flyers on the windscreen wipers of parked cars.

This action guarantees them that the owner of the car (often a resident of the "barrio") will pick up the flyer, either because they are interested in it or because, affecting the aesthetic value of their vehicle, they prefer to throw it away.

For this reason, many flyers are found on streets and pavements.

The choice of where to intervene with their marketing campaigns remains non-trivial. It can be seen that the concentration of flyers is highest on the outskirts of cities, where there is the greatest poverty and also the greatest belief in certain holistic practices.

Another place where traces are often found are hospitals: the "Maestros" seem to be specialists in curing all kinds of illnesses.

︎Exercise 01

I have always found it difficult to answer the classic question "What do you do for a living?".

In addition to thinking that it is, basically, a poorly posed and far too vague question, I have never been able to give a real answer to "what I do", probably because my multidisciplinary approach allows me to speak different languages, often difficult to identify in a single category.

Since a few years I have been collecting flyers of African mediums who base their communication on their ability to solve ANY kind of problem; such a developed multidisciplinarity that made me think about how, in some way, I also could have been inspired by their way of communicating their qualities.

"Maestro Evidente Self" was born from a review of the communication system of the great Maestros, adapted to my own abilities or what I have done over the years, what I have learned to do or what I believe I would be able to do.

"What would I do if I were a Vedic Master?"

"How would I communicate?"

La suerte no espera, llama el Maestro Evidente.


Each flyer maintains the structure and layout generally used by the "Maestros".


The content is based on the " popular phrases " used by the Maestros, which are adapted to a language that is certainly more ironic but not necessarily more effective.

A series of more or less specific skills are defined which can satisfy any type of customer.

The result is almost guaranteed, despite the seriousness and professionalism.

Different ways of interacting with the Master Evident Self are proposed, including through the website and email, in addition to the classic telephone contact,

The symbolism points to a mystical/spiritual appeal that draws on that used by the "Maestros" in their communication and aims to open the perceptive doors of those who come into contact with the Maestro Evidente.

*Communication is carried out following the guidelines dictated by the "Maestros". Therefore, the wipers of cars parked in non-central areas of the city and hand-to-hand delivery are preferred.



Contrary to the regular communication of the Maestros, the flyer designed for the “Maestro Evidente Self" has a backside that guarantees its recognisability no matter which side it is thrown on, which is generally the case with most flyers.

The symbolism used on the back is intended to make the potential client reflect on his actions.

"Do you want to continue with your life and your problems or do you want to change it by relying on the Maestro Evidente?”

The choice is yours.


Acting within the urban space as the "Maestros" allows me to leave ephemeral traces of my passage that aim to offer a service to those who want to take the time to read what is suggested. I wonder if the people they interact with might need what the Master Evident offers and if it might be a source of acquiring new clients.


︎Exercise 02
After printing about 500 flyers of "Master Evident Self" I felt the need to work on my business again and look for alternative methods of propaganda.

I therefore identified a wall that could host my message and decided to act on it to make the Master's powers more effectively known.

I find a certain curiosity in appropriating a public wall for commercial purposes.

I wonder how long it will remain intact before someone takes it down and whether I can finally acquire a job through this occult advertising.

If not, I will continue to think about alternative ways of advertising the work of Maestro Evidente.




A specific wall is identified within the urban space which seems to have the right characteristics to host the occult advertising.

The wall is located in a place with a lot of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, a characteristic which guarantees a high visibility.

I decided to print the flyer of "Maestro Evidente" on 20 sheets of A3 paper so as to obtain, once assembled, a single piece with dimensions of 120x166 cm.





Altering the size of the flyers previously produced allows me to interact with the urban space in a different way by "invading" it and taking possession of a wall so as to reach a wider number of people.
I wonder if anyone will notice what I am proposing and above all if I will finally receive an e-mail or a call.
